About this product
How the Garden Hand Tiller works
Compacted soil sheds water and starves roots of air. A hand tiller breaks the surface so rain and irrigation can soak in, and does it from a standing position, with a handle long enough to keep your back straight.
The head carries three curved tines that dig in and comb through the top layer, lifting small weeds and breaking up crusts. A flat blade on the other side of the head chops weeds at the base and trims the edges of a bed.
The shaft is a black metal tube, light but stiff, and the working end is robust enough for ordinary garden soil. It suits flower beds, vegetable plots and nursery rows where a powered tiller would be too large or too noisy.
Before you buy the Garden Hand Tiller
This light hand cultivator loosens crusted soil between plants and lifts small weeds without a bend of the back. It is ideal for beds, borders and nursery rows. For breaking new ground you will need something heavier, such as a hoe or a tiller.
