Choosing levelling, loading and transport equipment
A tractor earns its keep when it can carry, lift and shape the ground as well as pull. Before you pick an attachment or a trailer, work out how heavy your loads are and how rough your tracks are, because those two facts decide almost everything else.
Match the load to the tractor
A trailer, trolley or loader should never ask more of the tractor than its power, brakes and hydraulics can give. If you are close to the limit, move up to the next size of tractor, not the next size of attachment.
Count your trips
A tipping body or hydraulic loader costs more than a plain trailer, but it pays for itself quickly if you unload soil, sand or stone several times a day.
Think about the ground
Soft or sloping land favours double axles, wide tyres and low loading. Smooth yards and roads let you choose a lighter, single-axle design.
Plan for the attachments
Blades, buckets and grapples all share the same hydraulic system. Make sure your tractor has the right couplings and flow before you buy a second attachment.
