About this product
How the Seed Starter Tray with Dome works
Seeds germinate best when they stay warm and damp, which is hard to guarantee in an open tray. The clear dome traps moisture and heat, creating a stable humid climate for the first days, so germination is faster and more even.
The tray has twelve separate cells, so each seedling has its own compartment of compost and roots do not tangle. When it is time to transplant, each plant can be lifted out whole with its root ball, with less shock to the young plant.
The lid has a vent that you open as the seedlings grow, to let fresh air in and prevent damping off. A solid green base catches the water. The set is useful for herbs, tomatoes, peppers, flowers and any crop you want to start early indoors.
Before you buy the Seed Starter Tray with Dome
A dome tray gives seeds a warm, humid start, which makes it very useful for slow germinators and for tender crops. Twelve cells are enough for a few varieties. Open the vent once seedlings appear to avoid damp conditions.
