How the Onion and Garlic Planter works
Planting onion and garlic by hand is slow, repetitive work. This tractor-drawn planter does it with uniform depth and spacing, which helps the crop come up evenly and saves labour. It is easy to operate and sits on strong rubber tyres for work in the field.
You can set it up for 2 to 6 rows at 15–30 cm apart, with seeds spaced 5–20 cm apart. The hopper holds about 40–50 kg, an optional fertiliser attachment is available, and the heavy-duty mild-steel frame has a rust-resistant coating. A tractor of at least 50 HP is needed.
Sort the sets or cloves by size first, because even-sized material feeds more evenly through the planter. Set the row spacing between 15 and 30 cm and the seed spacing between 5 and 20 cm to match the variety, and make sure the tractor has at least 50 HP.
