How the Raised Bed Pneumatic Planter works
Raised-bed planting suits both organic and commercial growers, especially where the soil is difficult. The beds drain water better and improve soil structure, and weed growth is reduced. This planter forms the new raised beds as it sows crops such as wheat, maize, cotton, sunflower, sorghum, tomatoes and other vegetables.
A vacuum fan system and pick-and-drop wheel metering give accurate spacing for healthy growth, and the furrow and bed size can be adjusted to suit the crop and water management. It has four rows, a rear-mounted Category II hitch, and needs a tractor of at least 50 HP.
Pneumatic metering is gentler and more accurate than mechanical plates, but it needs clean, graded seed to work well. Set the bed and furrow size before you start, check the vacuum with a few test metres, and use a tractor of at least 50 HP on a Category II hitch.
