About this product
How the Subsoiler works
A subsoiler reaches the compacted layers that ordinary ploughs never touch. By cracking them open below the surface, it improves water flow, lets roots grow deeper and supports fertility. That makes it a key tool where soils are hard or low in fertility.
It comes as a single-tine model (about 150 kg, for 30–45 HP tractors) or a double-tine model (about 250 kg, for 40–60 HP). Both have reversible hardened-steel shanks and shear-bolt protection, so a hidden rock or root stops the tine rather than damaging the frame. Working depth is 300–400 mm.
A subsoiler is worth the effort when water pools on the surface or roots turn sideways at a hard layer. Use it when the soil is dry enough to shatter rather than smear, and go in at right angles to your old tillage direction. The single-tine model suits smaller tractors of 30–45 HP; the double-tine model needs 40–60 HP.
Before you buy the Subsoiler
A subsoiler is a tool you use with a purpose, not every season. Dig a test pit first to find the compacted layer, then set the tines just below it. Done at the right moisture, it improves drainage and root depth for years afterwards, so plan the work for a dry spell.

Questions
Questions about the Subsoiler
Only when compaction is a real problem, for example after heavy wet harvests or years of the same tillage depth. Many growers loosen the soil once every few years rather than every season.
